In our experience, life is full of unexpected moments of learning & the world is full of immeasurable wonder. We've also learned that sharing the facts we take sinks them in and truly ingrains the information; some call this teaching. So, TEACH us!
Surely along the way Life as a Schoolhouse will morph. Your suggestions are welcome. Please send them & any questions you might have to us via our email.
'Guidelines'
- Think beyond the guidelines.
- Whether you're a parent, a student or simply a passionate human, you're welcome to send in an 'article', a blog post that might be re-posted with perhaps a few alterations, or a topic you'd be interested in starting the 'research' on. What are you already an expert in?
- Keep in mind that your article will be published via the internet. We're not looking for simple fact based research; wikipedia verbatim isn't the goal. Some level of interaction is encouraged. What does the topic mean to you? What could it mean for those reading?
- Keep in mind that your article will be published via the internet. Links and credits via links are highly encouraged. Media from both your own creation & relevant, publically usable media is also welcome. Think of your submission more as a 'lesson' than an article. This is the era of multimedia experience and limiting ourselves to words & images is needless. Incorporate music & craft & a conference call...any relevant item you wish. A list of related web links and to other resources is great.
- Remember the schoolhouse. Schoolhouses were filled with students from all ages and different backgrounds. The older children helped the younger & the younger provided 'teaching' experience to the older. Try to include information & age appropriate parts for kids of all ages, even if that just means images or a suggestion for a simple drawing project.
- Assigning recommended 'homework' is GREAT & 'LaaSH' will start a flickr group just for photo submissions of completed 'assignments'. Links to YouTube videos, etc are highly encouraged via the comments section.
- This is an experiment and we'd love your input, on any level. Thanks!
