What is this place?

In considering what 'school' means for our family we've been dwelling on this theme a lot; life is our schoolhouse--we learn constantly, as is human nature. What is intended for this space of the web at large is to offer a collective of interesting life topics. Here folks can share the experiences in the schoolhouse that is life. From nature and history to art and culture, YOU are invited to send a submission--a research paper so to speak. What interests you right now? Scuba diving? Dinosaurs? Woodworking? The battle of Gettysburg? Whether you and your kids are studying in a real classroom, have a new hobby or have boundless knowledge on any given topic please share it!

In our experience, life is full of unexpected moments of learning & the world is full of immeasurable wonder. We've also learned that sharing the facts we take sinks them in and truly ingrains the information; some call this teaching. So, TEACH us!

Surely along the way Life as a Schoolhouse will morph. Your suggestions are welcome. Please send them & any questions you might have to us via our email.

'Guidelines'
  1. Think beyond the guidelines.
  2. Whether you're a parent, a student or simply a passionate human, you're welcome to send in an 'article', a blog post that might be re-posted with perhaps a few alterations, or a topic you'd be interested in starting the 'research' on. What are you already an expert in?
  3. Keep in mind that your article will be published via the internet. We're not looking for simple fact based research; wikipedia verbatim isn't the goal. Some level of interaction is encouraged. What does the topic mean to you? What could it mean for those reading?
  4. Keep in mind that your article will be published via the internet. Links and credits via links are highly encouraged. Media from both your own creation & relevant, publically usable media is also welcome. Think of your submission more as a 'lesson' than an article. This is the era of multimedia experience and limiting ourselves to words & images is needless. Incorporate music & craft & a conference call...any relevant item you wish. A list of related web links and to other resources is great.
  5. Remember the schoolhouse. Schoolhouses were filled with students from all ages and different backgrounds. The older children helped the younger & the younger provided 'teaching' experience to the older. Try to include information & age appropriate parts for kids of all ages, even if that just means images or a suggestion for a simple drawing project.
  6. Assigning recommended 'homework' is GREAT & 'LaaSH' will start a flickr group just for photo submissions of completed 'assignments'. Links to YouTube videos, etc are highly encouraged via the comments section.
  7. This is an experiment and we'd love your input, on any level. Thanks!
